December Launch?
Launching an outdoor fitness business in December! Are you crazy? That is what some people might say but RISE Driffield fitness franchise did just that.
There are a couple of things against launching in December…like the cold…and the fact that most people want to eat and drink the whole month and tend to put off any healthy thoughts until the new year!
First Mover
However, there is something to be said for getting ahead of the game and doing some awareness of your fitness business in December, says Carl Smith, owner of the franchise and co-founder of RISE Fitness.
The December bit of the launch campaign aimed to get some ‘noise’ going about the newest fitness offering around, RISE outdoor bootcamp, using traditional print media like leaflet distribution. These were delivered in a tight radius around the bootcamp location plus we pushed out some digital media via Instagram and Facebook. This was all about giving people a teaser that something exciting was happening in their area. Because RISE is a hype local service, we also looked to the local print press which is still an important avenue of news for lots of small towns, villages and even districts in cities.
Hitting the Ground Running
An advertorial in one of these local newspapers or magazines really helps build credibility around the launch and reassures people that this is a bona fide new service.
This activity meant we hit the ground running in January, which we all know is the seasonal high point for fitness customers joining and re-joining gyms, studios, courses etc. When you are a seasoned fitness professional like Carl you understand that January usually takes off mid-month. But the groundwork done in December meant that the first RISE session on 4th January had a health 8 participants breathing the frosty air!
This was great to start that all important word of mouth plus get some images for social media. One of the unusual aspects of RISE is the Myzone heart rate monitors that are central to the product delivery. Not only do these amazing gadgets help personalise the fitness experience of everyone at the bootcamp sessions they also help the boost in activity we are trying to get into other parts of our RISE members’ lives.
People can’t help but talk about how much these monitors help them during sessions and motivate them to get more active out of session, they really get people excited. This is how the RISE coach really reaches into members lives and makes RISE different to any other fitness service they may have joined.
Using the digital package on the RISE app the coach can set up fun challenges using the Myzone monitor, can send out digital workouts and can set up nutrition plans. All delivered remotely.
The online digital reach plus the outdoor fitness sessions in the fresh air means that RISE is perfectly position for the post pandemic world.
Watch the space to hear if we hit our end of January target!
